Journey to Recovery Community Center Achieves Certification as a Vermont Recovery Services Organization
Newport, Vermont – Journey to Recovery Community Center (JTRCC) is proud to announce that it has successfully completed the certification review process and has been officially recognized as a Certified Recovery Services Organization (RSO) through the Vermont Office of Professional Regulation (OPR).
This certification reflects JTRCC's commitment to providing high-quality, ethical, person-centered recovery support services that meet the rigorous standards established by the State of Vermont. The certification process included a comprehensive review of organizational policies, procedures, documentation, governance, and service delivery to ensure compliance with Vermont's Recovery Services Organization standards.
"We are incredibly proud of this accomplishment," said Lila Bennett, Executive Director of Journey to Recovery Community Center. "At JTRCC, we believe that excellent care begins with strong systems. We are committed to being an organization that is both deeply human-centered and grounded in clear policies, ethical practices, accountability, and professional boundaries. Those two things are not in conflict, they strengthen one another."
Journey to Recovery Community Center provides peer recovery support services to individuals and families affected by substance use and co-occurring challenges throughout the Northeast Kingdom. JTRCC believes that recovery looks different for every individual and that lasting change begins by meeting people exactly where they are, without judgment, while helping them develop the skills, supports, and confidence to build meaningful, healthy lives.
The organization offers a wide range of prevention, early intervention, and recovery support services, including:
School-based prevention and early intervention programming for youth throughout local schools
Recovery coaching and peer support services
Programming within the Northern State Correctional Facility in Newport
Recovery support services in partnership with Probation & Parole
Parents in Recovery support groups
Families in Recovery support groups
Emotional Sobriety groups
Trauma-informed emotional wellness programming
Community education and prevention initiatives
Individual recovery planning and resource navigation
JTRCC's approach is rooted in evidence-informed, trauma-responsive care. The organization incorporates concepts such as attachment theory, trauma responses, emotional regulation, resilience, and recovery capital while honoring traditional pathways to recovery, including participation in Twelve Step fellowships such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA). At the same time, JTRCC recognizes that recovery is deeply personal and supports individuals in identifying the pathway that best aligns with their own goals and values.
"Our mission has always been to create a place where people experience dignity, hope, belonging, and genuine human connection," Bennett said. "Recovery is not about telling people how to live their lives. It's about helping people discover their own strengths, identify their goals, and build the supports they need to thrive. We are honored to walk alongside people during some of the most challenging and transformative seasons of their lives."
JTRCC also expressed gratitude for Vermont's continued investment in high-quality recovery support services.
"We are thankful to live and work in a state that has demonstrated such a strong commitment to recovery and to ensuring that organizations providing these services meet the highest standards of quality and professionalism. Certification strengthens the recovery system for everyone and ultimately benefits the individuals, families, and communities we serve."
As JTRCC continues to grow, the organization remains committed to expanding access to prevention, early intervention, peer recovery coaching, family support, and community-based recovery services throughout the Northeast Kingdom.
